Junior Handlers
NZKC formed a Young Kennel Club sub body in 2006, which has proved to be very successful in generating interest in all disciplines for the next generation of handlers. In the breed section there are 3 age groups, 8 - 11 years, 12 - 16 years and 17 - 24 years. There are various qualifying shows with the finals being run in tandem with the NZKC Nationals in September each year. They also hold various fundraising events and had their inaugural camp in July this year which was attended by kids from both islands and proved to be very successful. All the various disciplines were covered ie. breed, agility, obedience and also doggie dancing. They had classes in all disciplines, exhibitions, grooming tips and handling classes.
Roxy 1st place Wairoa April 2006
Roxy 3rd Northern Classic April 2006
Roxy started her junior handler career in April 2006, qualifying for the finals last year. Roxy handled a sheltie the first time she competed, she then decided she would prefer a bigger dog and she started using one of the Siberian Huskies, Teeka. For the finals in 2006, Teeka was out of coat and she had to settle for a Parson Russell Terrier, but did not enjoy the smaller dog. She then continued to use Teeka, followed by Gemma after she gained her condition after having a litter and has also used Kimba, both with much success. She has again qualified for the final in September 2007 and will using Gemma in this competition.

Shawnee begun by showing Sailor Man and has persevered with him all along and he has proved to be a wonderful little Junior Handler dog. His wonderful friendly temperament and great enjoyment of showing makes him an awesome dog to handle.
