Ch Castlerock Who's The Boss - Best In Specialty Sweeps |
Gowrielea Don't Need To Be Coy - Best of Opposite in Specialty Sweeps |
In July,2009 I had the honor of being asked to judge the Golden Retriever Club
of BC's 30th Annual Specialty Sweepstakes. This was in conjunction with the
Golden Retriever Club of Canada's National. Thank you to all of the breeders,
owners and handlers who showcased their wonderful exhibits to me. The
Entry for the day was 33 for Juvenile Sweeps and 15 for the Veteran Sweeps.
My Sweepstakes winner was a beautiful bitch named Toni. Breeder, Owner
Handled, from Winnipeg Manitoba. Toni is also co-owned with Charlotte Hewey.
It came as no surprise when I heard 2 months later, that Castlerock's Who's The
Boss was awarded BEST OF WINNERS from the bred by class at the USA
National.
Best of Opposite in Sweeps went to Gowrielea Don't Need T0 Be Coy.
And yes of course his name is Roy!
Again another very well presented Breeder Owner Handled entry. This dog came from
the 12 - 15 mth class and impressed me so much with his powerful reach and drive
and rock solid topline. Bruce and Liz Russell travelled all the way from Scarborough,
Ontario

Can Am Ch Goodtime's Accidental Tourist - Best Veteran |
Am Can Ch Peppercreek's In The Company O'Shamans - Best Opposite Veteran |
ALWAYS my favorite class and such a hard one to judge. Every dog in there is giving
their all and are so happy to be back in the ring. It is so very hard to award placements
when I wanted to give them all first.
My best Veteran is an eleven year old female bred by Lisa Smith. Allie was shown by
her owner Jane Christy (co owned with Bill Joyner). Allies attitude alone makes you
demand a second look. She still carries herself with a nice smooth easy gait and
a rock solid topline. Allie hails from Aldergrove, BC
Best of Opposite went to Tuggan. Again another eleven year old dog showing his heart
out. Bred by Paul Scoggin and onwed and handled by Bo Gloster of Seattle, WA.
He was showing his age a bit more than the female, but when he opened up and
moved around the ring, his powerful reach and drive was still evident.
It was an absolute pleasure to judge all of the wonderful veterans.
