KRISTIAN “Kris “ KARL OLSON No one can sum up 35 years of a mans life in a few words, but these are some of my memories that come to me when I think back on my son. Kris was an easy baby, a curly headed tyke with a sparkle in his eye who loved nothing better than to tease his two big brothers Eric and Andy. It seemed he was always laughing. As we are still reeling from the shock of his loss, I have to say repeatedly to myself, “ He is at peace and in a place where there is no pain. “ Rest in peace , my youngest son, my baby of whom we have loved with exasperation at times but mostly with great joy. Our hearts are broken and we will miss you terribly.
He thought a candy super energy pill made him strong.
He had a terrible fall from his bike and blackened his front teeth, it made him shy but he got right back on the bike.
When my mother took us for a plane ride, he really turned green. I had never seen anyone that color before!
He wanted to be a businessman and made his first business venture, a lemonade and toy stand by age 6.
He was Joseph in a Church play and Santa in the kindergarten program.
When he played games he was energized and animated!
Kris was afraid of the dark so our Norwegian Elkhound Bjorna always went to bed with him. When he fell asleep, she would come downstairs. She also accompanied him if he had to go into the basement. He sure loved that dog and liked to walk her with his friend and his dog.
The friend Tommy Binder and Kris called themselves the Bumblebees due to their navy and yellow striped rugby shirts.
He loved to show off magic tricks and his favorite toy, was a magic set.
When my mother remarried, he was astounded and fascinated by my step father’s little tricks and puzzles.
At 11 years of age he was substituting for his brothers on paper routes, while still too young for a route of his own. By 14, he bussed in a restaurant.
He was a scout, and a ball player – playing soccer, baseball and basketball for fun and enjoyment… always a good sport.
He liked the computer and at age 12 cataloged all of his comics.
He wrestled in High School.
He was a hard worker and was a cook, an ice cream vendor, a cable installer, snow cone vending manager, factory worker and a roofer… just lately he was starting up his own roofing business.
He traveled with the Walt Disney Ice Show and went to Alaska, Mexico and Australia as well as many of the states….earning trophies for Best Operator and Best Snow Operator!
While he was a cook at O’Brian’s Sportsbar, he played Santa for the Christmas Party. The sparkle in his eye was still evident.
He had so many friends, and they were so important to him and he in turn was loyal to them.
He loved children , hunting, playing cards, computer games, sports and best of all to be with his friends.
He was a winsome child, and a handsome young man who should have still had the world ahead of him, but left us all too soon. He suffered half his young life with Gastric Reflux Disease . Often he was in pain and discomfort but he kept on.
