Birka gives 200% of herself and you can see it in the herding photo... I just love this one. She easily passed her Herding Instinct Test.
Baldur was able to herd goats at a Herding Seminar in Illinois, until one butted him into a water tank. Then the game was'nt fun any more. When we tried to test him, he remembered even though it was years later and refused to acknowledge them at all!
Brenne was a bit frightened when she watched at that seminar, but she was only 7 months old. She passed her Herding Instinct Test when she was a year old with flying colors..
Brottsjo passed his HIC and did well .
Briskke is the latest to earn his HIC and did so with style.
Hunting

Of course elkhounds hunt moose and bears in Norway...here in the states, mine hunt mice , squirrels and chipmunks!
Birka is always found by the hollow tree, a brushpile or our rockpile where the chippies live... it keeps her busy for HOURS!
Our first two elkhounds, Bjorna and Kjella were pheasant hunters and my husband actually took them to hunt. One year , none of the bird dogs were able to come and Bjorna flushed pheasants...she went to a hunting clinic and was pronounced "BIRDY".... all of the hunters seemed surprised, but not me.
Obedience

Birka is starting out with one High in Trial in obedience. She is trying to follow in the very big footsteps of Brottsjo who found such joy in obedience... and did so well. I sure miss being in the ring with my boy.

This was all in fun... during a storm , Baldur pulled a sled for me to the grocery store to get milk and a few other things... so it was helpful after all.

Tracking
Brenne was my first TD.

We started Birka out very young! She is my best tracker.
