Achievements:
I'll get the hard part over first. Jem died on St Valentine's Day, February 14, 1999, in the courtyard of our home, after he was bitten by a tiger snake. It happened and it was terrible. He was just two years of age.
Jem was a wonderful collie - he was adventurous and he was friendly. Everyone whom he met really liked him. That was his nature.
In his show career, Jem was awarded two CCs, one Puppy in Group, seven Reserve Challenges (all to his brother Jantz - Ch. Baqilodge Hats Off).
A month before he died, Jem spent a few days with his breeder, Mim Bester at Baqilodge. There, Jem was mated with Danza (Baqilodge Cadenza) and a month after he died she gave birth to two puppies - Asher and Searlaidh. Asher came to live at Pintado (thanks Mim). He is so like his dad - for months I tripped over his name and frequently called him Jem. Although the pain about Jem will always be there, Asher has softened it.
All the collies at Pintado are special in their own way. Asher is Jem's legacy.
Jem (front) is pictured here with his brother Jantz (Ch. Baqilodge Hats Off) at six months of age - to the day! They had just made their show debut under collie specialist judge, Mr Kevin Evans of Victoria. At their first show, Jantz gained his first BOB Challenge and Jem his first Reserve Challenge and RUBOB.
