Achievements:
Gena and 3 littermates were dumped at a shelter in Indiana. The other puppies were temperament tested and adopted out...but Gena was shy and scared. She just melted and they couldn't test such a soft dog. They contacted JNMRF, a nationwide elkhound rescue and they in turn contacted us.
She was transported to Wisconsin and fostered a short time for evaluation by the coordinator of WNER. She was a little shy and fearful of certain noises , didnt walk on a leash and had to be carried in and out of doors the first day.
She soon came out of her shell and from a sad frightened little girl, became the happy little spirit shown by her photo in the foster home. Gena was not aggressive in any way, was very willing and eager to please and wagged her tail almost continually. She was afraid of the vet, but after her shot and exam, she approached him to give him a kiss and forgive. She is a wonderful little puppy
WNER had a woman who had been looking for a female since last fall, and she was transported to meet her. Gena now lives in the UP, with her new owner and a big boy elkhound named Lars.
ADOPTED MARCH 2009.
UPDATE GENA has been called the BEST elkhound that her owner has ever had, and she has had about 10! She is a great little girl.
