Back to Toller roots what a visit
Fun on the beach during our visit
When We came to live in Canada in 1989 we brought three dogs with us it was not a question of should we it seem the only thing to do after all dogs had always been part of our home for twenty five years back in the UK We settled into our new life in Ontario in no time at all, the years past by so quickly as they do then came the time for our old male to pass away, we realized then that it would not be to long before we would loose all three it was then we decided it was time we started to look for another breed to enrich our lives. Not knowing then that it would happen far sooner than we ever realized, As Robert was sitting in the waiting room of the dentist he picked up a magazine turning the pages this beautiful red dogs jumped out at him, he fell in love straight away with this handsome looking dog called the Toller, he proceed to rip out the page and tuck it inside his pocket, on arriving back home he shouted as he opened the door Chris I have found the dog we are going to have: The search began by phone a call to the CKC we soon had to hand a list of Toller breeders. We had no idea what to expect so we started at the top of the list every one we phoned was not at home I think we were on the fifth one when a voice answered after a friendly chat we were invited to come for a visit and look at some Tollers, not only Tollers but puppies as well, how lucky can one be we said to each other, not only would we see a live Tollers for the first time but puppies as well. We could not wait, our visit ended up by us not only seeing Tollers and puppies but a maybe of a puppy for us,We were so happy on the drive back home, It was not to long when the phone call came a Toller puppy had our name on it. We named her Gypsy she was our pride and joy,Gypsy was the first Toller in the breed to gain a CKC hunting tittle she was so smart Gypsy taught us everything and put us on the right track of this wonderful breed the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.when Gypsy passed away it broke our hearts we will never forget this wonderful little girl that brought so much joy to us the two rookies:
