The Mi-Ki (tm) (pronounced Me-Key) is a small toy breed dog whose height is 10-11" and weight between 4 to 9 lbs. There are two types of coat, the smooth and long. The smooth has no beard or mustache on the face and has short fringing on the ears and on the legs and tail and the body hair lays flat. The long hair has a mustache and beard, but must have a neatly shaved head to show. All colors are acceptable, but solids are very rare and hard to come by. Grooming is farly easy. Use a wire comb about once a week and bath when necesssary. Keep ears clean and toe nails clipped and hair removed between toes.
It is thought to be an Asian breed brought to the states sometime during the 80's, amd reportedly share a common ancestory with the Papillon, the Maltese and Japanese Chin. Some pups will retain the stand up ears of the Pap, some will wing them, some are dropped, all acceptable.
The all seem to have this fantastic temperment, and fit into all life styles, great travelers, wonderful lap sitters, and some have made wonderful therapy dogs.
