NOTE of HUMOR: Just recently, I found quite the thread of contention concerning SouthHavenMastiffs and myself on , The Mastiff Sweet Spot, a place where the so-called elite show fanciers gather to gossip and judge others, simply because they have nothing better to do. Considering the fact, that most are either out of fellowship or are non-belivers by the way they act and conduct themselves all under the guise of their manmade rules and haven't delivered 5 litters of Mastiffs between them, I just found it funny that they would take my words and Jen's, then turn them around to their own devious purpose...If only they would put as much time into paying their dues to the breed instead of sitting around judging people that are the ones that have put them where they are today, we actually might all be able to do some real good. Reading books or articles from someone that hasn't lived and breathed the job, isn't worth the paper it's penned on, but those of us that are putting in the long,loving hours of work each day, 24/7/365 understand and don't ask a thing, other than,"Get to know someone before you judge them, less ye be judged 7 times over". If anyone has any questions about what their unprovoked and vicious assumptions are based on, or has misunderstood what is as plain as day, Please feel free to contact me or better yet, come, take a visit and see for yourself what all the fuss is about. I know that what I do is based on what the good LORD has gifted me with and I do it in HIS name. I knew in doing this, it would bring about attacks, unfounded and hate filled and strangely enough, I don't feel hatred toward them, only sadness that they've never had the opportunity to see the good that comes from being a reputable breeder and standing behind your babies when people go bad and as long as we all shall live, People do go bad...NOT the Animals...

I am located in West Central Arkansas, at the foothills of Beautiful Petit Jean Mountain and State Park along the Arkansas River, just 2 minutes off I-40.
I've worked with animals all my life, horses,cattle,dogs,dairy goats,water fowl,chickens,deer to snakes,ferrets,coyotes,lynx cats to wolves and then some. This is my calling and I love it dearly.
For the past 23 years, I've raised,bred and protected Wolves along with all my other animals. To this day, no other canine species has the intelligence of these fantastic animals or the love for one another, they show in day to day life...However, the Mastiff has come the closest to perfecting this likeness and the similarities are astounding between the two which is why I surround myself with them. The pups are like wolf cubs at 2-3 weeks of age, so much so, that other than the color and of course snouts,heads,etc., they react the exact same way to a stranger they've never smelled before, mouth opened wide as if to take your hand off when you try to touch their heads, a built in reflex for their protection that still runs true in their blood, all these hundreds of years later. I found this to be so exciting that I've started a journal to document the likenesses of the two(many years ago now), in the hopes to one day finish the 3 books I have written and the video's I've taped.
In all these years, no wolf has ever crossed with a Mastiff (13 to be exact) here at my home and I know of no other breeding that has ever taken place due to the faithfulness of the wolf to their life partner and mate..15 years ago when I was first diagnosed with cancer, I had all 3 male wolves neutered, to prevent any cubs being born, without me there to deliver them and make sure they were taken care of, but, a miracle happened this past year like none I've ever experienced before...My white female, Bear (last daughter of my old Alpha Female, Stalker, that passed away last year from a massive stroke at the age of 19) was in heat, yet again, but this time, standing next to Sumo, my largest Mastiff male pup and flagging him (indicating she was ready to breed)...I couldn't believe it..All these years and now, when she was 13 years old, she decides she wants babies???
Well, I took him to her and they had a 30 minutes play period and a 33 minutes tie up(only once) and on Jan. 19th, 2008 Bear and Sumo had the world's first, Wolf-Mastiff Cubs ( 2 males and 2 females)...That being said, there won't be another crossing as this was one of those, once in a lifetime deals that I just feel honored to be a part of, never expecting it again...Without going into a book about Stalker, lets just say, she's very famous in her own right, being the supplier for the worlds supply of Lac Lupaninum Homeopathic Medicine(or wolf's milk) and she is immune to the Brown Recluse Spider Bite and therefore carries those antibodies in her blood and the blood of her offspring...Which is why, I'm so thankful that a part of her will live on in these fantastic Wolf-Mastiff Cubs, 3 of which I'm keeping.
You will find pictures of her, her daughter, son, grandsons and greatgrands, greatgreatgrands and so on, as she had 78 live births in her lifetime to go along with her title, in the photo's/memories. She was my best friend on earth and how do you say,"thank you", for an honor of that magnitude?. I was allowed to deliver her young, teach them along with her, the ways of the world(now), share in her family and she in mine, as we were all one pack, even if we looked a little different. There was never a wolf at my backdoor, they lived with me, slept with me, ate with me and I protected them and still do, until the very end. I only have 3 adults left now, Bear,Lobo and Bub(Bear's full/brother) but now, a new generation has been born and with it, the chance to see what it was like, when the world was still young and innocent,through their eyes...I will keep a journal and video's as these precious, one of kind babies make their way in this day and time.
I also have raised,trained and shown Quarter and Paint Horses my entire life as well as jockey race horses(both Quarter and T.B.). I'm down to my last 6 with 2 more on the way, but due to my health, will be selling all but 3 this year.
As much as it grieves me, I must do the same with my beloved Mastiff's. I'll be keeping only 10 and trying to find that perfect,loving,lifetime home for the others. I am facing another battle with the same enemy again, so must cut down in order to stay strong enough to take care of my furry family. I can't see myself without my wolves or Mastiffs or them without me, so as hard as it has been to come to this decision, I have and am down to my last few at this time. NOTE: BUBBA,BEAR AND LOBO were lain to rest this winter just weeks apart, after Bubba suffered a Major Stroke at the age of 14 years of age. Bear went less than a week later, after going into a state of mourning for her brother and Lobo, as if sensing he was the last, simply lay down one night and went to sleep...They are all buried here on the place, heads to the rising sun..They were the last of my pure-bred wolves and have given me the happiest and most beloved memories and lessons of love of my life. Grizzly and Little Stalker(the Wolf/Mastiff pups) are the end of their story and will reside here for the rest of their lives, running the horse pastures and just being their loving selves. Grizzly is neutered and Little Stalker is left intact, if ever the Homeopathic Institutes need her lifesaving milk(and it's amazing properties).
