NEWSFLASH: SEE ARTICLE FROM "THE MERCURY" 20/4/06 ABOUT RUBY - AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RESCUE PAGE:

RUBY GRACE HAS HER OPERATION TODAY (4/4/06) at the North Hobart Vet Clinic. We will let you know how she is later in the day.
4/4/06 4:10pm. I have just called the Vet Clinic to check on Ruby's progress and they say that she is still in surgery. She has been there since 1:00pm and it looks like it could be another hour before they have finished. We will call the clinic early tomorrow and I will let you know then of Ruby's progress.
5/4/06 Ruby's operation ended up being longer than expected. She had to be given extra pain relief last night, but this morning she has eaten and has been for a walk outside. She will stay in hospital under constant supervision and maximum pain control until Friday evening. Hopefully at that time she will be well enough to go into after care with only trips back to the Vet to make sure everything is healing as it should. Mim.

19/4/06 Ruby is doing well and has settled in with her Carer, Allie. Allie has two dogs, Guinness (a Border Collie/Retriever cross) and Feena (a tricolour collie) and they have made Ruby welcome. She was a bit unsure of Guinness' play offers (which she can not accept anyway as she has to be crated and kept very quiet to allow her ears to heal), but is slowing becoming more affable towards him. Her love for people and attention is unsurpassed.

For her operation she was totally shaved from the top of her eyes back over her head and down her neck, so she did look rather odd, but already her hair is growing back. Ruby removed her ear bandages herself after a few days. She has been back to her vet for checks and at this point in time one ear has had the stitches removed and is looking good, however the other is still draining infection and is taking longer to heal. We are a little concerned about it, but she is under the best care. She returns tomorrow to the vet for another check and I hope we have good news then. Thank you to everyone who has taken such an interested in Ruby Grace.

We are still busy trying to raise funds. You can see a list of contributions on Ruby's page at the RESCUE Page of this website.

Thank you everybody.

This site is still under re-construction in late 2005, please be patient.
